Adrenalin
Winner Interviews
Norman Carr
Cincinnati, OH
Adrenalin
Award Winner for Lifetime Achievement Award
MBR:
How did you feel when you found out you were an Adrenalin Nominee?
Mr. Norman: Well I didn't know about the Adrenalin Awards until you [Desi]
came to me and gave me the nomination certificate. I was very happy and proud.
MBR:
Did you campaign to get people to vote for you or did you just sit back and let
the voters
make
an unsolicited decision?
Mr. Norman: Fabian and Thabbius did a
lot of work. Fabian got a hold of the ballots and started passing them out at
the rink at both the Wednesday and Sunday night sessions. The skaters here in
Cincinnati were very enthusiastic and supportive. From that point I just said
I'll sit back and watch and see what the outcome will be. I thought maybe I had
a good chance because I've been around for a long time and a lot of people know
me.
MBR: How
did you feel when they came back with your award?
Mr. Norman: Thabbius
called me from Delaware after the ceremony and told me I won. He said he was holding
the award in his hand and bringing it home. He accepted the award on my behalf.
Then he and Fabian brought it to my house. I really liked it. That was something.
I'm very proud of it. I wanted to come to the ceremony but I really couldn't because
of my injury. My doctor said, I won the award so take my own sweet time coming
back to the rink.
MBR:
Have you won any trophies in skating competitions? If so, is the Adrenalin Award
any different from the others that you have won?
Mr. Norman:I
received the trophy for senior skaters and a few awards from Detroit, "Most Seasoned
Skater". To me this is special I enjoy this one the most. It's like a great accomplishment.
