Adrenalin
Winner Interviews
De aka "Dimples", Easy Roller
Skate Club
Columbus, OH
Two-Time
Adrenalin Award Winner for Best Trio/Chain Skaters and Largest Skate Club/Organization
MBR:
How long have the Easy Rollers been together and where did you meet?
Dimples: It has been seven years as of October 2003. We met at the East
USA Rink on the East side of Columbus.
MBR: Where did the name of your organization come from?
Dimples:
Tammy- Lady T' came up with the name because we roll nice and easy.
MBR:
Where do you get your steps?
Dimples: Members in the club come
up with the steps and then we learn steps from other skaters across the states.
MBR: Do you
have a stepmaster?
Dimples: Yes. "Old School" is truly
the Stepmaster of ER. He calls out the Steps and gets us pumped up!! I teach new
and old members new steps; and bring back steps from other cities.
MBR:
We all have reasons why we skate. Why do you skate? What motivates you to skate?
Dimples: It's fun, a way to exercise; and you don't have to have
anyone go with you. It's an individual kind of sport that you can just go to the
rink, show up, and roll solo or roll with a group.
MBR: When you first heard of the Adrenalin Awards, what were your thoughts?
How did you feel about it?
Dimples: I thought it was a FABULOUS
concept. It was Spectacular!
MBR: Now that the first one has passed, do you feel the same, better or worse?
Dimples: I want it to happen again, kind of melancholy about the
nomination process. I think that at each National Party throughout the year there
should be ballots to vote for each category. It would be more representatives
of skaters; and each PARTY would have locals voting for the skaters…and then THOSE
would be tallied…and placed online for final voting…just a thought…no NOMINATION
committee…this leaves people feeling that it was BIASED.
MBR: How did you feel when you found out you were an Adrenalin Nominee?
Dimples: It was very exciting and flattering for being acknowledged.
MBR: Did you campaign to get people to vote for you or did you just sit back
and let the voters make an unsolicited decision?
Dimples: No.
We did not solicit votes. We sat back and just enjoyed being nominated.
MBR: Did you think you had a chance at winning? If not, who in your category
did you think would win?
Dimples: Yes, I thought we had a chance
of winning at least once seeing that we had six nominations. Winning the second
was just a bonus.
MBR: How did you feel when you won?
Dimples: Overwhelmed, confirmation
for all the hard work, traveling expenses to numerous cities in that (1) year,
the expense of it all…hours at the rink practicing steps, …it felt WONDERFUL.
MBR: Were
you nervous when you went up to accept your award?
Dimples: Yes,
extremely, so I only went to accept one award…the first one, I was way too nervous…
MBR: What
did your girls say when you came home and told them the group won two trophies?
Dimples: They were excited the Club had won trophies…they also
wanted to know why they were not able to attend the ceremony, and would there
be one for the kids....'cause you know my girls love to skate, too...It's truly
a family thang in my house !!
MBR: Do you have any comments or other information you would like to share?
Dimples: I want to just say ' thank you' and kudos for acknowledging
skaters, and for making everyone feel special and truly appreciated.. thank you
! thank you ! thank you !
